Miraculous. That was the word used at the wound clinic this morning to describe the healing that is taking place inside Neal's wound. It's not a word they use lightly, and it wasn't what we expected to hear, especially given that there was evidence of another problem. But something good is happening, something unexpected, and we know it is an answer to prayer.
Neal has been going to the wound clinic on a weekly basis for several months and we generally leave feeling like the road is still uphill with no guarantees of improvement. It has been a struggle to stay optimistic and continue with the prescribed treatment of 23 hours per day on bed rest, particularly since he has difficulty sleeping and breathing and feels like he is losing muscle tone. Plus he has to sleep on an air bed overlay in the family room which is lonely for both of us when we say goodnight and sleep apart.
There is a new problem, so I will have to change the wound dressings twice a day again for awhile. I can do that - it's just a hassle.
But - miraculous? That gives us hope.
