The Answer

Neal's wrist?  Not from anything he did.
Yesterday he was sent from the doctor's office over to Swedish First Hill where they were to insert a new picc line in his left arm and remove the picc line from his upper right arm.  The woman who did the procedure was wonderful and during the prep, Neal asked her if there was any chance that the pain in his right wrist could be caused by the picc line.  She said yes, if it was pressing a nerve.  The line has been flopping around so much and has been so hard to use (almost need two hands to press the syringe and flush the line with saline) so everyone was concerned that there was some kind of blockage.  The dolby ultrasound last week showed a fistula, which was why the doctor ordered its removal.
Anyway, within just minutes of the old picc line being removed, the pain in Neal's wrist began to dissipate.  By the time the xrays were analyzed, he was gradually regaining use of his hand and could use his fingers again, even on the wheelchair controls.  Amazing.  He doesn't have full use of his hand yet but he can be touched without flinching now and is slowly regaining the ability to grip.  He was able to eat with his right hand last night - huge progress!  Who knew that a picc line could be dangerous?
The new picc line is the low-maintenance type and doesn't need to be flushed with heparin.  Anybody need a box of heparin infusions?
