Almost every day for the past two weeks I have picked strawberries. We have a small protected area on the north side of our home that has been a choice location for growing them, and so far the birds haven't found them. This year the crop has been just wonderful. We have two kinds of plants: the big ones are called Whoppers and I'm told that next year they will be even larger. Keeping up with them is a strain on my back, but worth every bit of effort when we can pick and freeze this treat. Next year we need to plant more rhubarb so that there can be more strawberry rhubarb cobbler.
